Achyut Lahkar
Achyut Lahkar (9 July 1931 – 12 June 2016) was the father of the Bhryamyman or Mobile theatre and gave birth to mobile theatre in Assam in the 1960s. Mobile Theatre (), is a form of popular theatre exclusive to Assam. Unlike Street plays, Mobile Theatre groups travel from place to place with their cast, singers, musicians, dancers and crew, often carrying tents and seating with them. History The Kohinoor Opera was the first mobile theatre group of Assam, founded by Natyacharya Brajanath Sarma, in 1930. Kohinoor Opera performed dramas, attracting thousands of spectators, from Dhubri to Sadiya. The first Mobile Theatre play was staged on 2 October 1963, in Pathsala. Natraj Theatre
Nataraja () also known as Adalvallaan () is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the divine cosmic dancer. Pathsala ( Assamese: পাঠশালা) is a town that has district headquarter of Bajali district in the Indian state of Assam with a population of nearly 11.5 thousand (as per 2011 census) and an area of 2.74 square kilometre size. Well known for its mobile theatres spreading niche entertainment around and beyond the state. Pathsala is also one of the top educational hubs of Assam for having a number of educational institutes most importantly junior colleges for 10+2 level. Kamal Kumari National Award
The Kamal Kumari National Award is an Indian Award given to individuals and groups in India for outstanding contribution to Art, Culture & Literature and Science & Technology. It was instituted by the Kamal Kumari Foundation in 1990 in memory of Kamal Kumari Barooah, the remarkable matriarch of the Khongiya Barooah family of Thengal, Assam. The foundation has till date a number of awardees. The first award was given to Sobha Brahma in 1991 in the category of Culture. The award carries a cash award of Rs.200,000, a trophy and a citation.
