Carlo Lizzani
Carlo Lizzani (3 April 1922 – 5 October 2013) was an Italian film director, screenwriter and critic. Biography Born in Rome, before World War II Lizzani worked as a scenarist on such films as Roberto Rossellini's ''Germany Year Zero'', Alberto Lattuada's '' The Mill on the Po'' (both 1948) and Giuseppe De Santis' ''Bitter Rice'' (1949), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Story. After directing documentaries, he debuted as a feature director with the admired World War II drama ''Achtung! Banditi!'' (1951). Respected for his awarded drama '' Chronicle of Poor Lovers'' (1954), he has proven a solid director of genre films, notably crime films such as '' The Violent Four'' (1968) and '' Crazy Joe'' (1974) or crime-comedy ''Roma Bene'' (1971). Maria Laura Rocca
Maria Laura Rocca (5 October 1917 – 6 May 1999) was an Italian actress and writer. Life and career Born Maria Laura Gayno in Pasian di Prato, Udine, Rocca spent her adolescence in Genoa, her mother's birthplace. After acting in some amateur dramatics, she studied drama under Teresa Franchini, with whom she also made her professional debut on stage at 30 years old. In films, she was mainly active in supporting roles in adventure and Peplum film genre, peplum genres, sometimes credited as Manuela Kent. She retired from acting in the mid-1960s. In 1959, she was the author of the book ''Cina senza muraglia'', and in 1969, she wrote the film ''Mr. Superinvisible'', being credited as Mary Eller. Personal life In 1939, Rocca married Giuseppe Bisazza, and they had a son, Oreste. In 1948 she remarried to Italian Communist Party, Communist politician Umberto Terracini.
