Rollercoaster
A roller coaster, or rollercoaster, is a type of amusement ride that employs a form of elevated railroad track designed with tight turns, steep slopes, and sometimes inversions. Passengers ride along the track in open cars, and the rides are often found in amusement parks and theme parks around the world. LaMarcus Adna Thompson obtained one of the first known patents for a roller coaster design in 1885, related to the Switchback Railway that opened a year earlier at Coney Island. The track in a coaster design does not necessarily have to be a complete circuit, as shuttle roller coasters demonstrate. Most roller coasters have multiple cars in which passengers sit and are restrained. Two or more cars hooked together are called a train. Some roller coasters, notably Wild Mouse roller coasters, run with single cars. History The Russian mountain and the Aerial Promenades The oldest roller coasters are believed to have originated from the so-called " Russian Mountains", spec ...

Achterbahn (song)
"Achterbahn" (English: ″Rollercoaster″) is a song by German recording artist Helene Fischer. It was written by Konstantin Scherer, Nico Santos, Vincent Stein, Wim Treuner, and Robin Haefs for her self-titled eighth studio album (2017), while production was helmed by trio Madizin, consisting of Patrick Benzner, Dave Roth, and Serhat Sakin, and Silverjam. Taking Fischer's music work further away from the schlager genre, the uplifting dance pop song is built around a synthesizer instrumentation and features slight Auto-Tune vocal effects. Lyrically, it details its narrator's feelings towards her lover which she compares with a roller coaster ride. The song was released as the third single from ''Helene Fischer'' on 20 October 2017 and became Fischer's third top ten hit on the German Singles Chart, peaking at number ten. It also became her fourth and third top forty entry on the singles charts in Austria and Switzerland, respectively. Dutch DJ Afrojack was consulted to produce a ...

Achterbahn (opera)
''Miss Fortune'' is an opera by Judith Weir based on a Sicilian fable. On 21 July 2011, ''Miss Fortune'' premiered at the Bregenz Festival in Austria as ''Miss Fortune (Achterbahn)''. It was a co-production with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, London, and was written in English. The opera reworks a Sicilian folktale as a contemporary parable. Gerhard R. Koch, writing in the ''Frankfurter Allgemeine'' newspaper on 25 July, had these observations: :The music of Judith Weir, who also wrote the libretto for her opera, is neither avant-garde nor experimental but has a highly distilled folkloric style with cantabile voices similar to that of Britten without becoming retrospective. Tonality and atonality are not applied in a strictly antithetical manner, therefore the ideas of the American minimalists Reich and Riley are very present. This music has colour and a rhythmic pulse; it creates characteristic sounds without losing itself in descriptive patterns. ''Miss Fortune'' moved to Lon ...

Wise Guys (band)
The Wise Guys were a German a capella band that was formed in 1990 in Cologne, Germany and split in 2017. History of the group Apart from Nils Olfert and Björn Sterzenbach, the members all attended the Hildegard-von-Bingen-Gymnasium in Cologne from 1981 to 1990. With their schoolmates Clemens Tewinkel and Christoph Tettinger, who also founded a brass band with them, they formed a rock band. At a school event, the band performed a single a cappella song. After graduating from high school with their A-levels (Abitur) in 1990, the group focussed on the a cappella genre. They soon named themselves the ''"Wise Guys"''. Eddi (Edzard) joined an 18-month alternative service for conscientious objectors in Brussels, which left the group as a quartet. The remaining four joined the Ersten Kölner Barbershop Choir. In early 1994, the group placed third in a Barbershop music, Barbershop Quartet competition. However, this type of music was not representative of their later work. In April 1995 ...
