Achmed Akkabi
Achmed Akkabi (born 3 October 1983, in The Hague) is a Moroccan-Dutch actor. Akkabi was born and raised in The Hague into a family of six. His parents are both immigrants from Morocco. Akkabi became a national celebrity as 'Rachid the merchandiser' in Albert Heijn commercials and for his roles as 'Appie' in ''Het Huis Anubis'', 'Youssef' in the cinema movie ''Alibi'' and for presenting ''AVRO Kunstquest''. Moroccans in the Netherlands (, , also known as Dutch-Moroccans or Moroccan-Dutch) are immigrants from Morocco to the Netherlands and their descendants. Migration history Moroccans were not much represented in the first major postwar wave of migration to the Netherlands from the mid-1940s to the mid-1960s, which consisted mostly of people from the Netherlands' former colonies. However, they began to show up in large numbers during the second wave; between 1965 and 1973, one hundred thousand Turks and Moroccans came to the Netherlands, and an additional 170,000 from 1974 to 1986. Earlier arrivals consisted of "guest workers", whose recruitment and admission was governed by a bilateral treaty signed in 1969. From the 1970s, the number arriving under family reunification schemes became more significant. Around half originated from the mountainous Rif region. AVRO, short for Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep ("General Association of Radio Broadcasting"), was a Dutch public broadcasting association operating within the framework of the Nederlandse Publieke Omroep system. Rabat (film)
''Rabat'' is a 2011 Dutch road film, and the first film made by Jim Taihattu and Victor Ponten, from independent Dutch advertising company Habbekrats. It was filmed in the summer of 2010 during a period of five weeks. The premiere was on the 6 June 2011 at Tuschinski in Amsterdam. The three main characters are played by Nasrdin Dchar, Achmed Akkabi and Marwan Kenzari. The film was shot by a young cameraman from the Netherlands: Lennart Verstegen.
