Achilleas Gerokostopoulos
Achilleas Gerokostopoulos (Greek: Αχιλλέας Γεροκωστόπουλος, c. 1850–1900) was a Greek politician, a member of the Greek parliament and a Minister of Education (1890–1892). He was born in the village Patero, one of the Katsanochoria villages, near Ioannina, and grew up in Patras. He studied law and political sciences in Athens, Paris and Rome. A partner of Theodoros Deligiannis, he was elected member of the Greek Parliament for Achaea in 1885, 1887 and 1890. Patero, Greece
Fortosi () is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Katsanochoria, Ioannina regional unit, Epirus, Greece. The community consists of the villages Fortosi, Kostitsi, Patero and Nistora. Fortosi is situated in the northern foothills of the mountain Xerovouni, west of the Arachthos valley, at about 800 m elevation. It is 10 km west of Pramanta, 21 km southeast of Ioannina and 39 km north of Arta. There is an ancient castle built around the 4th century BC 2 km south of Patero. Georgiou I Square
Georgiou I Square ( el, Πλατεία Γεωργίου Αʹ) is the central square of Patras, Greece. The square is named after King George I of Greece. It is crossed by Maizonos, Korinthou and Gerokostopoulou streets. The neoclassical Apollon Theatre is situated on the northeast side of the square. History Georgiou I Square was built under the Kapodistrias government as a part of the 1829 plans by Stamatis Voulgaris to rebuild the devastated centre of Patras after the Greek War of Independence. Unlike the old city, the new city was built according to a grid plan with several large squares. The square has been renamed several times: Dimokratias at first, then Kalamogdarti, Othonos, Kentriki, Thomopoulou, Ethniki, Palligenesias and since 1863 ''Georgiou I''.
