Accra High School
Accra High School is a Senior High school located in Accra, Ghana in West Africa. It initially started as a Boys School. History Accra High School was founded by the late Rev. James Thomas Roberts on 17 August 1923. The school, was located at beach avenue in Aayalolo, a suburb of Accra, Ghana. The school celebrated its first anniversary in August 1924 with a church service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Accra and the sermon was delivered by the Anglican Bishop of Accra, the late Dr. John Aglionby. Thus, there was a tie between the school and the Church of England. In 1924, the school entered its first candidates for the college of preceptors as well as for the Cambridge University, the royal society of Arts and Pitman's Shorthand Examinations in the United Kingdom. Aayalolo
Aayololo is a Bus Rapid Transit System, was inaugurated on the 25th of November 2016, in Ghana which is operational in Accra the Capital. Bus Rapid Transit system are special because particular lines are dedicated for the buses which allows them to move faster through traffic, along their routes. Aayalolo system Started in 2016, it started work from Accra to Amasaman and Accra to Ofankor. It was initially planned as a Bus Transit System with dedicated lanes, but because these lanes were not provided it was renamed Quality Bus System (QBS). John Aglionby (bishop)
John Orfeur Aglionby (16 March 1884 – 15 May 1963) was Bishop of Accra during the second quarter of the 20th century. Educated at Westminster and The Queen's College, Oxford, Aglionby was ordained in 1911 and began his career with a curacy at Holy Trinity, South Shields. In 1915, Aglionby joined the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Private hurch Times obituary, 24.5.1963and, six months later, was interviewed by the Chaplain-General for a commission in the Army chaplaincy. He was noted as 'Tall, Quiet, fairly good' and, although he was strongly Anglo-Catholic in a chaplaincy preferring Evangelicals, he was appointed and posted to France. His Military Cross was gazetted on 4 June 1917. His brother, William, also an army chaplain, would be awarded a MC in January 1918.
