Accident Care And Transport Service
Accident Care and Transport Service or ACTS (Malayalam: ആക്ട്സ് )is a voluntary organisation providing free emergency assistance to accident victims in Thrissur city and Thrissur District of India. History ACTS was founded on 8 May 2000, under the Presidency of Alkesh Kumar Sharma District Collector and General Secretary Fr. Davis Chiramel with the support of local civic leaders. Till December 2019, ACTS has 45,000 members in 17 branches, 145 units and has 22 ambulances. Thrissur Model The Supreme Court appointed a Committee under Justice K Skandan for making comprehensive guideline for ''Good Samaritans'' appreciated the role for Accident Care and Transport Service for their valuable contribution to the society. In its report submitted to Supreme Court, the Committee recommended the Thrissur model of ''Good Samaritans''. Thrissur (), formerly Trichur, also known by its historical name Thrissivaperur, is a city and the headquarters of the Thrissur district in Kerala, India. Rev. Fr. Davis Chiramel, popularly known as the Kidney Priest, is an Indian Catholic priest and the founder of the Accident Care and Transport Service (ACTS) and the Kidney Federation of India. He currently serves under the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur. Early life Davis was born at Aranattukara on 30 December 1960 as the son of Chiramel Chakkunni and Kochannam. He did schooling at Tharakan’s High school, Aranattukara and later went to St. Mary's Minor Seminary, Thope, Thrissur city and to Aluva Ponitifical Seminary for further studies.
