Acceglio (Vivaro-Alpine: ''Acelh'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont. It is located above Prazzo in the upper Valle Maira about southwest of Turin and about west of Cuneo, on the border with France. Acceglio borders the following municipalities: Argentera, Bellino, Canosio, Larche (France), Meyronnes (France), Prazzo, and Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye (France). Rifugio Campo Base
The Rifugio Campeggio Campo Base is an alpine refuge located in the Municipality of Acceglio, in the Province of Cuneo, Italy. Characteristics It is situated in the ''frazione'' of Chiappera, in the upper Maira Valley at approximately 1,650 metres above sea-level on the right bank of the main valley floor of the Maurin river (the upper stretch of the Maira river). Opened in 1982, has been renewed during 2010 and has now 26 sleeping accommodations in the refuge and an area for camping. It is opened from 20 December to 1 November. The Rifugio Campo Base is an excellent point of departure and can be a useful base for different itineraries: the GTA (Grande Traversata delle Alpi), the Via Alpina, Percorsi Occitani, Tour of Chambeyron, Sentiero Roberto Cavallero. Prazzo
Prazzo is ''comune'' of the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont, northern Italy. The main village is split into two parts, Prazzo Superiore (upper) and Prazzo Inferiore (lower), at about from each other on the national route 22. Prazzo is part of local community of the "Valle Maira" valley. The centre of the commune, containing the nursery and the primary school, a hotel and most of the shops of the village, is located in Prazzo Superiore, while the parish church and an army base, at times used by various corps of the Italian Army and NATO for mountain training, are in Prazzo Inferiore.
