Académico 83 Do Porto Inglês
Associação Académico 83 do Porto Inglês (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Akadémiku 83) is a football (soccer) club that plays in the Maio Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Porto Inglês, island of Maio. Its current president is Edvaldo Soares and its coach is Nando (Fernando Graça). Since the implementation of the Second Division in 2015, Académico 83 are now the five unrelegated clubs of the island. Académico 83 is the most successful football (soccer) club on Maio having won about 16 official regional titles, of which are nine championship titles, three cup and super cup titles and an opening tournament title. Its regional totals are now shared with Onze Unidos since April 29 after that club's cup win. It was once shared earlier with that club even in mid to late 2016. Estádio Municipal 20 De Janeiro
Estádio Municipal 20 de Janeiro is a multi-use stadium in Maio, Cape Verde. Its location is east of the town center of Cidade do Maio about 300 meters nearly south of the Maio- Figueira da Horta Road (EN3-MA01), the Maio Circular Route and is in the residential sector. It stadium is named after a holiday named Heroes Day It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Académico 83 and Onze Unidos. Every other clubs from the island based outside Cidade do Maio including Académica da Calheta and Barreirense plays at the stadium. The stadium is operated by the Maio Regional Football Association (ARFM). The stadium holds 1.000 people (some sources says 4,000) and size is and its grass is artificial. Maio Island Opening Tournament
The Maio Island Opening Tournament ( Portuguese: ''Torneio de Abertura da Boa Vista'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Turnéu di Abertura di Bubista''), is an opening tournament competition (equivalent to a league cup) played during the season in the island of Boa Vista, Cape Verde The competition is organized by the Boa Vista Regional Football Association. Some seasons featured rounds of one portion, some seasons featured three rounds and two groups with the top club of each group in the final match. It currently consists of seven rounds, a meeting with another club once. The winner with the most points (sometimes in the final) is the winner. The first edition took place in 2000 and was the second regional competition after the championships. Barreirense was the first winner, Académico 83 is the recent winner won in 2013. 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championships
The 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 37th beginner level (likely amateur) competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. It started on 14 May and finished on 9 July, it started five days later than last season and finished two days earlier, the season was a week shorter than last. The championship was governed by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The scheduling was completed on November 16 and the group system was kept instead of becoming a one portion season without playoffs and was the last time. The 2015 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 36th beginner level competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 9 May and finished on 11 July. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The schedule including its matches were created on Saturday January 10. CS Mindelense won the eleventh title and became the second club after Sporting Praia to win three in a row. Neither clubs participated in the CAF Champions League competition in 2016 and in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup. The Maio Champion's Cup or the Maio Champion's Trophy (Portuguese: ''Taça da Campeões de Maio'', Capeverdean Creole: ALUPEK: ''Tasa da Kampionis di Maiu'') is a single knockout football (soccer) competition that is played each season in the island of Maio, Cape Verde. The competition features the champion from the Premier Division and the champion of the Second Division. The trophy competition is organized by the Maio Regional Football Association (Associação Regional do Maio, ARFM). Its current winner is Onze Unidos who won their only title. The Champion's Cup (or Trophy) was introduced in 2016.
