Shirley Abrahamson
Shirley Schlanger Abrahamson (December 17, 1933December 19, 2020) was the 25th chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. An American lawyer and jurist, she was appointed to the court in 1976 by Governor Patrick Lucey, becoming the first female justice to serve on Wisconsin's highest court. She became the court's first female chief justice on August 1, 1996, and served in that capacity until April 29, 2015. In all, she served on the court for 43 years (1976–2019), making her the longest-serving justice in the history of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Early life and career Abrahamson was born Shirley Schlanger in New York City, the daughter of Polish Jewish immigrants, Leo and Ceil (Sauerteig) Schlanger. Leonard Ian Abrahamson (born 30 November 1966) is an Irish film and television director. He is known for directing such praised independent films as ''Adam & Paul'' (2004), ''Garage'' (2007), ''What Richard Did'' (2012), and ''Frank'' (2014), and Room (2015), all of which contributed to Abrahamson's six Irish Film and Television Awards. In 2015, he received widespread recognition for directing ''Room'', based on the novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue. Jennie Helena Abrahamson (born May 28, 1978, in Sävar) is a Swedish pop singer and songwriter. Born near the northern Swedish city of Umeå, she now lives in Stockholm's Södermalm district. Career After initially playing in various bands and collaborating with changing other artists, she launched a solo career in Sweden in 2006. Supported by her friends Friska Viljor and Ane Brun, Abrahamson founded her own record label in 2007. She also runs a recording studio in Stockholm with her longtime partner Johannes Berglund. Kirsten Lillian Abrahamson is a Canadian ceramic artist. Personal background She was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1960. She moved to Canada with her family at the beginning of her high school years and subsequently became a Canadian citizen. After completing high school she moved to Calgary, Alberta to study at the Alberta College of Art and Design where she earned Diplomas in Ceramics and Glassblowing. In 1984 and 1985 she attended the summer sessions in Ceramics at The Banff School of Fine Arts, Banff, Alberta. She then attended the University of Calgary from which she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Ceramics) in 1987 and Master of Fine Arts (Sculpture) in 1990. Subsequently, she was an artist in residence at the Alberta College of Art and Design , and later at the Banff Centre. Theodore Abrahamson
Theodore Abrahamson (June 24, 1900 – October 21, 1978) was a dairy farmer, businessman and politician. He was a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and Mayor of Tigerton, Wisconsin. Biography Abrahamson was born in Lyngdal, Norway, and received his early education in Norway. After immigrating to the United States, he attended evening school and worked as a dairy farmer. He owned two feed elevators and was the founder and owner of a milk house company. Career Abrahamson was president of Tigerton, Wisconsin from 1948 to 1964, and was a member of the Shawano County, Wisconsin Board from 1936 to 1939 and from 1956 to 1964. Dinah Abrahamson (1954December 17, 2013) was an American author and politician. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Abrahamson was a member of the Nebraska State Central Committee as well as an active member of the Republican Party. She was also known for her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Network special on the lives of Hasidic Jews. Max Abrahamson (29 October 1932 – 7 October 2018) was an Irish lawyer, internationally recognized as an expert in construction law. Background Abrahamson was the son of Tillie (née Nurock) and surgeon Leonard Abrahamson, whose Jewish families left Eastern Europe around the beginning of the 20th century. Una Stella Abrahamson ( Golding; August 6, 1922 – February 28, 1999) was an English-born Canadian artist and writer. Biography She was born Una Stella Golding in London and studied art in England. She married Roy Abrahamson shortly after World War II ended in 1945 and came to Canada the next year. She apprenticed as a painter with Henri Masson. She later worked as an economist and as domestic historian for the test kitchens at ''Chatelaine'' magazine. She was also a publicist for the kitchens of General Foods and later as director of Consumer Affairs for the Dominion chain of supermarkets. In 1975, Abrahamson was chair of the Ontario Council of Health's task force on dietetics and nutrition. In October 1976, she was hit by a car in Toronto. Eufrosyne Abrahamson (née Leman; 24 March 1836 – 7 February 1869) was a Swedish soprano. Biography Born in Stockholm, Abrahamson was the daughter of Jewish parents, merchant John Leman and his wife Emma Jacobson. She began operatic studies under Julius Günther in 1852, which were completed in 1855. She made a successful debut in May 1855 as Panima in ''The Magic Flute''. She then continued study under Gilbert Duprez in Paris. She was later contracted to Teatro Real, Madrid where she made her debut in September 1858 as Elvira in ''Ernani''. In 1859, Abrahamson made a move to a Viennese theatre company, receiving acclaim. However, her career as a soprano ended when she married the businessman on 4 October 1859. Kjell Albin Abrahamson (23 June 1945 – 22 September 2016) was a Swedish journalist and author. He served as Swedish National Radio's senior correspondent to Warsaw, Poland, a position he previously held in Moscow, USSR (1986–1990); twice in Vienna, Austria (1990–1994 and 2001–2004); and once before in Warsaw (1994–1997).
