Abqaiq Airport
Abqaiq Airport is a small airstrip located 10 km west to the center of Abqaiq city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It occupies an area of about 0.35 km2, surrounded by farms and desert. It is about 65 km southwest of Dammam, the Province's largest city. The closest major city, however, is Al-Mubarraz, which is located about 55 km to the south. Abqaiq
Abqaiq ( ar, بقيق, Biqayq) is a Saudi Aramco gated community and oil-processing facility located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, located in the desert 60 km southwest of the Dhahran-Dammam-Khobar metropolitan area, and north of the Rub' al-Khali, the second largest sand desert in the world also known as the "Empty Quarter". The community was built in the 1940s by Aramco (now Saudi Aramco). The Abqaiq community had a population of approximately 1,500 in 2012, though the inclusion of the population outside the Saudi Aramco community brings this number closer to 30,000. Abqaiq has been organizing a Safari Festival since 2017. The 10-days festival aims at presenting the Arab and desert heritage by presenting different shows. Terrorism and security Abqaiq was the site of a terrorist attack attempt by al-Qaeda on 24 February 2006, targeting the oil processing facility. Dammam ( ar, الدمّام ') is the fifth-most populous city in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina. It is the capital of the Eastern Province. With a total population of 1,252,523 as of 2020. Al-Mubarraz is a city located at Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , and it's the north gate for Al-Ahsa governorate. With a population of 837,000 (as of 2020). Al-Mubarraz has historical importance because it was the rule center for the district between 1669 and 1793, before the Saudi rule . there are some sayings about its origin and it said that its origin back to the second half of the seventh century in Hijri.
