Abonnema
Abonnema, originally known as Nyemoni (which means "covet your own" in the Kalabari dialect of the Ijaw language), is a large town in the Kalabari Kingdom that was founded in 1882. Its territory was discovered by an expedition of four independent chieftaincy houses from the Kalabari city-state (Elem Kalabari). History The founders included Chief Ekine Bob-Manuel who sat on the Owukori Manuel stool and served as the first (Amanyanabo), Chief Young Briggs who sat on the Oruwari Briggs stool, Chief Akpana Georgewill who sat on the Otaji stool, Chief Kaladokubo Standfast Jack who sat on the Iju-Jack stool. These are the four founding houses of Abonnema. Accompanied by these four founding fathers were Chief Opu-Benibo Granville, Chief Orubibi Douglas, Chief Ngbula Blackduke Oweredaba, Chief Ajumogobia Bestman, Chief Young-Jack, Chief Kala-Akpana Don-Pedro and Chief Aribimeari Membere . Reynolds Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack
Reynolds Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, OFR (born 4 December 1957), popularly known as ''Beks'', is a Nigerian civil engineer, technocrat and public servant. Tammy Danagogo
Tamunobaabo Wenike Danagogo (born 22 September 1970) is a Nigerian politician, lawyer, and the current Secretary to the State Government of Rivers State since May 2019. Before that, he was the Minister of Sports in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a graduate of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Education Danagogo received his primary education in 1981 from St. Joseph State School in Abonnema, Rivers State. Nabo Graham-Douglas
Nabo Bekinbo Graham-Douglas, ( 15 July 1926 – 18 December 1983) was a Nigerian Lawyer who became Federal Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in 1972. Early life Graham-Douglas was born on 15 July 1926 in Abonnema in Rivers State. Education Graham-Douglas began his elementary education at Nyemoni Primary School in Abonnema and then attended Kalabari National College in Buguma. He proceeded to Exeter University in England for legal studies. He then entered King's College, University of London, and later the Institute of Advanced Studies in London where he was called to Bar on 23 November 1954. Alabo Graham-Douglas
Chief Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas (8 May 1939 – 25 April 2022) was a Nigerian politician who was appointed Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture in 1989, then Minister of Aviation in General Ibrahim Babangida's cabinet. In 1999, he was appointed Minister of Labour and Productivity, and in 2000, Minister of Tourism in the Olusegun Obasanjo cabinet, leaving office in January 2001. Life Graham-Douglas was born on 8 May 1939, in Abonnema in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. He was of Ijaw origin. Henry Odein Ajumogobia
Henry Odein Ajumogobia (born 29 June 1956) is a Nigerian lawyer who served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources between 2007 and 2009 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from April 2010 to July 2011. Kalabari Kingdom
The Kalabari Kingdom, also called Elem Kalabari ( Kalabari: ''New Shipping Port''), is the independent traditional state of the Kalabari people, an Ijaw ethnic group, in the Niger River Delta. It is recognized as a traditional state in what is now Rivers State, Nigeria. The Kingdom was founded by the great Amachree I, forefather of the Amachree dynasty, which is now headed by the Princewill family. The Kingdom is ruled and controlled by King Amachree XI (''Professor Theophilus Princewill CF''R), along with his Council of Chiefs, most of whom are royal princes. Together, they make up the traditional Kalabari ruling house, similar to a monarchy. Sumner Dagogo-Jack
Chief Sumner Karibi Dagogo-Jack (born 1930) was chairman of the National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (NECON) appointed by President Sani Abacha, holding office from 1994 to 1998. Dagogo-Jack served as a member of the Humphrey Nwosu electoral commission (1989–1993) and was later appointed chairman of the National Electoral Commission of Nigeria. His commission was reportedly not impartial, but was controlled by Abacha. Under Dagogo-Jack, NECON registered five political associations, none led by credible politicians. Chief Ibiagbanidokibubo Asenite 'Agbani' Darego, MFR (born 22 December 1982) is a Nigerian model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World in 2001. Nimi Dimkpa Briggs (born 22 February 1944) is a Nigerian academic, scholar and Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
