Ablaincourt-Pressoir
Ablaincourt-Pressoir is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. The two villages were formerly separately administered, but were joined in 1966. Geography Ablaincourt-Pressoir is found in the Santerre sub-region, where early French Kings made their base, at Noyon. The town is in a strategic position close to the intersections of the A1 Paris-Lille autoroute and the A29 autoroute between Amiens and Saint-Quentin. Two departmental roads meet nearby (the D150 and the D164). The town also an international TGV rail station, the Gare TGV Haute-Picardie, nicknamed "''The sugar-beet station''" named after the predominant crop of the area. Reinhard Johannes Sorge
Reinhard Sorge (29 January 1892, Berlin, German Empire – 20 July 1916, Ablaincourt, France) was a German dramatist and poet. He is best known for writing the Expressionist play '' The Beggar'' (''Der Bettler''), which won the Kleist Prize in 1912 and almost singlehandedly created modern theatrical stagecraft. After being subsequently received into the Roman Catholic Church, Sorge began an effort to bring the Catholic literary revival into the literature of the Germanosphere. Instead, Sorge was conscripted into the Imperial German Army in World War I in 1915. He was killed in action during the Battle of the Somme in the summer of 1916. Early life Sorge was born in Berlin- Rixdorf, into the family of a middle class salesman of Huguenot descent. According to Tim Cross, the blight of Sorge's childhood was his father's mental illness. Gare TGV Haute-Picardie
Haute-Picardie TGV station ( French: ''Gare de TGV Haute-Picardie'') is a railway station on the LGV Nord-Europe between Lille and Paris. Geographically, it is located about west of Péronne, between the towns of Saint Quentin and Amiens, in the heart of the Battle of the Somme territory. Overview When built, it was criticised by the press for being too far from any of the neighbouring towns to be useful. Hauts-de-France (; pcd, Heuts-d'Franche; , also ''Upper France'') is the northernmost Regions of France, region of France, created by the territorial reform of French regions in 2014, from a merger of Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy. The Battle of the Somme ( French: Bataille de la Somme), also known as the Somme offensive, was a battle of the First World War fought by the armies of the British Empire and French Third Republic against the German Empire. Hand Grenade
A grenade is an explosive weapon typically thrown by hand (also called hand grenade), but can also refer to a shell (explosive projectile) shot from the muzzle of a rifle (as a rifle grenade) or a grenade launcher. Louis XV
Louis XV (15 February 1710 – 10 May 1774), known as Louis the Beloved (french: le Bien-Aimé), was King of France from 1 September 1715 until his death in 1774. He succeeded his great-grandfather Louis XIV at the age of five. Until he reached maturity (then defined as his 13th birthday) on 15 February 1723, the kingdom was ruled by his grand-uncle Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, as Regent of France.
