''Cut Off'' (german: Abgeschnitten) is a 2018 German thriller film directed by Christian Alvart. It is based on the eponymous novel written by Sebastian Fitzek and Michael Tsokos, a medical examiner. The film stars Moritz Bleibtreu, Jasna Fritzi Bauer, Lars Eidinger, and Fahri Yardim. Plot A violent storm blusters around the island of Heligoland and cuts off the island from the rest of the world. Linda, a 24-year-old cartoonist, is temporarily staying on the island. She is threatened by her ex-boyfriend Danny, who is stalking her. Once again in a situation where she feels like she needs to flee from him, she falls down an embankment while fleeing and comes across a corpse on the beach. At the same time, Prof. Dr. Paul Herzfeld, a medical examiner working for the Federal Criminal Police Office, is engaged in an autopsy at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin. Sebastian David Fitzek (born 13 October 1971 in West-Berlin) is a German writer and journalist. His first book, ''Therapy (Fitzek novel), Therapy'' (''German language, dt.'' ), was a bestseller in Germany in 2006, toppling ''The Da Vinci Code'' from the first position. Fitzek is currently one of the most successful writers of Germany. Moritz Johann Bleibtreu (; was born in Munich, Germany on August 13, 1971. He has worked over the years as a film actor, voice actor, and film director. Christian Alvart (born 28 May 1974 in Jugenheim) is a German filmmaker and screenwriter. Prior to working in the film business Christian Alvart worked in various positions, most recently as a senior editor at Filmmagzin X-TRO. In 1999, he made his debut as a film director with the thriller '' Curiosity & the Cat'', for which he also wrote the screenplay. His next film was the thriller ''Antibodies''. Alvart's first English-language film was ''Case 39'', followed by ''Pandorum''. In March 2010, it was announced that Christian Alvart secured the film rights for Captain Future and is working on a live-action adaptation in 3D. A body bag, also known as a cadaver pouch or human remains pouch (HRP), is a non-porous bag designed to contain a human body, used for the storage and transportation of shrouded corpses.
