The Abejas de León (English: ''León Bees'') is a Mexican professional basketball team. It has been a member of the LNBP since the 2009-10 season. History Foundation The team was previously known as the Piedras Negras Bravos but the Universidad de Guanajuato bought the team and relocated it to its home town in the city of Guanajuato with the help of the City Hall and several businessmen. First seasons During their first season they struggled but managed to make it to the postseason in the second-worst seed. They lost against the Halcones UV Xalapa team who were the eventual champions. In their second season they entered the postseason for the second year in a row, again losing in the first round, this time being swept by the Pioneros de Quintana Roo. The following season they occupied the ninth seed, again classifying to the playoffs, but lost in the first round to the worst-qualified team, the Barreteros de Zacatecas. The National Professional Basketball League ( or LNBP) is the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The league was founded in 2000 with 10 teams. Despite its short history, the LNBP has established itself as the one of the most important basketball leagues in Latin America. Domo De La Feria
Domo de la Feria (originally Auditorio Municipal de Leon) is a 4,463-seat indoor arena located in Leon, Guanajuato. Built in the mid-1980s, it is used primarily for basketball, and is home to the Abejas de León basketball team. It is part of the municipal fairgrounds, and is one of the primary venues of the annual Feria Leon. It can seat up to 7,000 for concerts. It is also used for circuses, lucha libre, motorsports, boxing, graduations, ice shows and other events. A 4,500-seat Palenque, dedicated in 2010, is adjacent to the arena.
