Abdullahi Wuse
Abdullahi Bawa Wuse (born 1963) is a Nigerian legal practitioner and politician who was elected Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly in 2019. He was elected to the state assembly for the first term in March 2019 on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Tafa constituency. The house standing order was waved to allow first term house members to contest in the election. Wuse was a sole candidate in the election and emerged speaker of the house through a unanimous vote following his nomination by Ahmed Mohammed Marafa who was the immediate speaker of the House. Wuse was immediately sworn in as the speaker of the house by the clerk of the assembly Abdullahi Mohammed Kagara pledging to lead the house in accordance with the law. Ahmed Mohammed Marafa is a Nigerian politician who was elected speaker of the 8th Niger State House of Assembly in 2015. Marafa was elected to the state assembly from Chanchaga on the platform of All Progressives Congress. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing party and power was transferred peacefully. Niger State
Niger is a state in the North Central region of Nigeria and the largest state in the country. Niger state has three political zones, zone A,B and C. The state's capital is at Minna. Other major cities are Bida, Kontagora and Suleja. It was formed in 1976 when the then North-Western State was divided into Niger State and Sokoto State. It is home to Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, two of Nigeria's former military rulers. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu
Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu is a senior civil servant who was elected governor of Niger State, Nigeria in April 2007. He was reelected on 26 April 2011. In the March 2015 presidential and senate elections, Gov Aliyu failed in his senate race against David Umaru of the All Progressives Congress, who obtained 149,443 as against 46,459 votes for the governor. On April 11, 2015, he failed to win in his own polling unit in governorship and state assembly elections in polling unit 006 where Aliyu's PDP only obtained 100 votes against 361 votes for Kofar Danjuma Mainadi of the APC.
