Abdulla (1960 Film)
''Abdulla'' is a 1960 Hindi-language film produced by Amrit Singh. The film is directed by Akkoo, and stars Mahipal and Shakila in lead roles along with Hiralal, Maruti Rao and Helen. The music was composed by Bulo C Rani. The screenplay is based on a story written by Sheven Rizvi. Plot Abdulla (Mahipal) is a smart and brave young man. With his qualities, he manages to defeat the greatest warrior of the Yemen empire Aquirab (Hiralal). His bravery was awarded with the title of the commander in chief of the Arab empire by the king. Mahipal falls in love with the princess of the empire, Malaque (Shakila). The king loses his eyesight before their marriage. Shakila (1 January 1935 – 20 September 2017) was an Indian actress, best known for her roles in Guru Dutt's films: ''Aar Paar'' (1954) and '' C.I.D.'' (1956). Shakila's was born as Badshah Begum on 1 January 1935 in the Middle East. Her younger sisters are Noor Jehan (nicknamed Noor) and Nasreen. Their ancestors belonged to the royal families of Afghanistan and Iran. Their paternal grandparents and mother were killed during family feuds over the throne. Their father and his sister Feroza Begum brought the children to Mumbai, India. Shakila and her sisters faced tough times, since their father died soon afterwards.
