Abdul Mannan is a Bangladeshi educator. He served as the 12th chairman of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh during 2015–2019 and the vice-chancellor of the University of Chittagong during 1996–2001. Education and career Mannan earned his master's in Management from the University of Dhaka in 1972. He completed his graduate and post-graduate studies from the University of Hawaii and the Miami University in 1978. Mannan started his career when he joined the Department of Management of the University of Chittagong as a lecturer in 1973. He conducted advanced research on international commerce in Ohio State University in 1989. Abdul Mannan is an Indian politician who was the Leader of the Opposition belonging to Indian National Congress in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. On 7 February 2017, Mannan was seriously injured in a fight over a property damage bill in the Assembly. Mannan protested the law, which would jail criminals for vandalism for 7 years, using placards. He was asked to stop but refused, after which he was suspended. He then sat in the Well of the House in protest, which led to a confrontation between police trying to remove him and fellow Congress MLAs, leading to Mannan being seriously injured. Two days later, Mannan complained of suffocation and chest pains during an Assembly meeting, leading him to get a temporary pacemaker implanted another two days later. Career Corruption charges On 21 August 2014, Khan was sued by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charges of amassing illegal wealth. Abdul Manan bin Ismail (28 June 1948 – 12 February 2018) was a Malaysian politician. He was the Member of Parliament for the Paya Besar constituency in Pahang. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) major component party in the previous governing Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Abdul Manan served was a long-serving private secretary to Najib Razak while the latter was a federal minister.
