Abdul Jabbar Al-Oqaidi
Abdul Jabbar al-Oqaidi ( ar, عبد الجبار العكيدي, ʿAbd al-Jabbār al-ʿUkaydī) (also spelled al-Aqidi or al-Okaidi) is a former commander and spokesman for the Free Syrian Army in Aleppo. A former colonel in the Syrian Arab Army, he defected in early 2012. Free Syrian Army
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) ( ar, الجيش السوري الحر, al-jaysh as-Sūrī al-ḥur) is a loose faction in the Syrian Civil War founded on 29 July 2011 by officers of the Syrian Armed Forces with the goal of bringing down the government of Bashar al-Assad. (Pages 6, 14–17.) Initially a formal organization at its founding, its structure gradually dissipated by late 2012, and the FSA identity has since been used by various opposition groups. In late 2011, the FSA was considered the main Syrian military defectors group. It had success against far better equipped government forces. Battle Of Al-Qusayr (2013)
The second of two battles in al-Qusayr started on 19 May 2013, as part of the larger al-Qusayr offensive, launched in early April 2013 by the Syrian Army and the Lebanese militia Hezbollah, during the Syrian civil war, with the aim of capturing the villages around the rebel-held town of al-Qusayr and ultimately launching an attack on the town itself.
