Abdul Jabbar Khan
Justice Abdul Jabbar Khan (30 June 1902 – 23 April 1984) was the 6th Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan. He was preceded by Fazlul Qadir Chaudhry. Early life He was born on 1 January 1902 in Baher char, Barisal. He graduated from Barisal Zila School in 1919 and two years later from Brojomohun College. He did his undergraduate and graduate studies from the Dhaka University. Career In 1929 he joined the judicial branch of Bengal Civil Service. In his career he served as the subordinate judge, additional district judge and district judge and a justice of the Dhaka High Court. He started his political career in 1962 with the Muslim league and in 1964 he was made the president of the East Pakistan wing of the Muslim League. In 1965 he was elected to the Pakistan National Assembly from Barisal. he went on to be elected Speaker of the National Assembly. Qala-i-Jangi
Qala-i-Jangi (Dari/Pashto: ) is a 19th-century fortress located near Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan. It is known for being the site of a bloody 2001 Taliban uprising named the Battle of Qala-i-Jangi, in which at least 470 people were killed, including CIA agent Johnny "Mike" Spann. It served as Northern Alliance General Abdul Rashid Dostum's military garrison during the opening stages of the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021). History The fort was built in 1889 by Abdur Rahman, the 19th-century “Iron Amir,” the first ruler to unite Afghanistan. Then known as Dehdadi after the village nearby, it was built with British funds and intended both to defend against Russian invasion and to suppress revolts by Uzbek tribes. Rahman described it as "the largest and strongest fort that had ever been built in Afghanistan." It took 18,000 workers 12 years to complete it. Abdul Jabar (born 1975) was a captive who survived the Battle of Qala-i-Jangi, Qala-i-Jangi prison riot. An article published in the ''New York Times'' described Abdul Jabar as a 26-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, from Tashkent. Abdul Jabar told the ''New York Times'' that he had been in Afghanistan's north for approximately a year prior to al Qaeda's attacks on America on September 11, 2001. He said he had been working in Kabul working with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan—part of a group of 150 Uzbeks. Jabar added that the uprising was a reaction to the Afghan Northern Alliance not honoring assurances it had made that foreigners who surrendered their weapons without resistance would be set free. Mohammad Abdul Jabbar (10 February 1938 – 30 August 2017) was a Bangladeshi singer. Kalat was a first-class cricket team from the Pakistani city of Kalat in the north of Baluchistan province, about 150 kilometres south of Quetta. They had one season of first-class cricket in 1969–70, playing two matches in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. First-class matches The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was expanded from a 12-team tournament in 1968–69 to a 20-team tournament in 1969–70, and Kalat were one of the new teams. Their two matches took place in the space of 11 days in August 1969. Both were played at the Racecourse Ground in Quetta, and Kalat lost both by an innings. In the first match Kalat made 127 and 87 against Quetta, who declared at 402 for 8. In the second match Public Works Department declared at 524 for 4, and dismissed Kalat for 126 and 102. Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar (born Sharmon Shah; June 28, 1974), known previously as Karim Abdul-Jabbar, is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL).
