Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani
Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani (12 December 1880 – 17 November 1976), often shortened as Maulana Bhashani, was a Bengali politician. His political tenure spanned the British colonial India, Pakistan and Bangladesh periods. Maulana Bhashani was popularly known by the honorary title Mozlum Jananeta (Leader of the Oppressed) for his lifelong stance advocating for the poor. He gained nationwide mass popularity among the peasants and helped to build the East Pakistan Peasant Association. Owing to his political leaning to the left, often dubbed Islamic Socialism, he was also called 'The Red Maulana'. Abdul Hamid Khan (badminton)
Abdul Hamid Khan (born 13 December 1965) is a Singaporean former badminton player. He is a one-time Olympian and a seven-time national champion. Career Hamid entered the national squad in 1985. Then, he was just 19 and had won his first national champion men's singles title. He went on to win another six more until 1995. He also represented Singapore to compete in two events at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Hamid retired at the age of 30. He turned to coaching and also served as the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA)’s director of coaching for two years starting in 2000. He is currently the Deputy President of SBA. Personal life Hamid married his long-time girlfriend Murni in April 1993. They have two sons, Irsyad and Imran, and a daughter, Nur Insyirah. General Abdul Hamid Khan () was a senior officer in the Pakistan Army. He served as the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army under president Yahya Khan and led the army during the events in the Indo-Pakistani War in 1971. Abdul Hamid Khan is the chairman of the Balawaristan National Front (Hameed group) (BNF-H), a sub-nationalist organisation. He founded the Balawaristan National Front Hameed Group (BNF-H), which sought autonomy for Gilgit-Baltistan and opposed the construction of hydroelectric dams there. BNF-H was founded in 1995 by Abdul Hamid. In 1999, Abdul Hameed Khan left Pakistan. He spent 20 years living in India and Belgium. However, after spending 20 years living abroad, Abdul Hamid unconditionally surrendered to Pakistani security officials on 8 February 2019.
