Abdul Aziz Sarkar
Abdul Aziz Sarkar was a Bangladeshi police officer who served as the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion. Career Sarkar served in the United Nation mission to the former Yugoslavia. He was appointed the Director General of Rapid Action battalion on 24 April 2005, he replaced Anwarul Iqbal the first Director General of RAB. He served as the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion till 30 October 2006. He served during the 15 August 2004 Grenade attack on Sheikh Hasina. He led RAB into arresting Mufti Hannan. Home Minister Lutfozzaman Babar expressed dissatisfaction over the arrest and asked him not investigate the issue further. He along with Colonel Gulzar Uddin Ahmed interrogated Mufti Hanan in the Taskforce for Interrogation Cell. Sarkar said due to his term being over he could not take any more action over the issue. Rapid Action Battalion
Rapid Action Battalion or RAB, is an anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police. This elite force consists of members of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Civil Service and Bangladesh Ansar. It was formed on 26 March 2004 as RAT (Rapid Action Team), and commenced operations on 14 April 2004. From 2004 to 2008 RAB had killed 1,062 people. 2004 Dhaka Grenade Attack
The 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina, the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. The attacks targeted Awami League president Sheikh Hasina. Hasina was injured in the attack. Events and casualties Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina had been speaking at a public meeting on Bangabandhu Avenue, protesting blasts against the party's workers in Sylhet. The rally drew a crowd of 20,000 people. As Hasina finished her speech, a total of 13 grenades were thrown into the crowd from the rooftops of nearby buildings, killing at least 16 people on spot, later the death toll reached 24. Mufti Hannan
Mufti Abdul Hannan (died 12 April 2017) was a Bangladeshi terrorist and the chief of Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami Bangladesh. He was sentenced to death by hanging for multiple crimes and executed on 12 April 2017. Career Hannan is thought to have fought in the Afghan war against the Soviet Union. Lutfozzaman Babar is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Bangladeshi State Minister of Home Affairs in the Khaleda Zia Cabinet, as a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Taskforce for Interrogation Cell (), also known as TFI Cell, is a Bangladesh government special interrogation cell operated by Bangladesh's intelligence forces ( Directorate General of Forces Intelligence) and special police units (Rapid Action Battalion).
