Abdu Gusau
Abdu Gusau, Garkuwan Sokoto, MBE, OON (1918–1994), was a Nigerian civil engineer, and statesman who served as the Garkuwa of Sokoto until his death in 1994. He was the Chief estate engineer for Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1967 to 1972 where he was in charge of estates, which included buildings (both design and construction), the campus road network and the water supply. Gusau also served as a principal engineer with Taylor Woodrow of London where he worked on building London Heathrow's airport terminal. Gusau was the civil commissioner for the now defunct North western state Nigeria from 1972 to 1975. Biography He was born on 15 July 1918 in the town of Gusau in present-day Zamfara state. Gusau, Zamfara
The city of Gusau, located in northwestern Nigeria, is the capital of Zamfara State. It is also the name of the state's Local Government Area (LGA), which has an area of ² and a population of 383,162 as of the 2006 census. The area's postal code is 880. Geography Gusau is located north of a line drawn from Kebbe to Kano in Nigeria. Its diverse ethnic population consists mostly of the Fulani, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Igala, and Nupe ethnic groups. History Gusau district was one of the Districts that emerged following the jihad movement of the nineteenth century in Hausa land, led by the legendary Sheikh Usmanu Danfodiyo. Hassan Katsina
Hassan Usman Katsina (31 March 1933 – 24 July 1995), titled Chiroman Katsina, was the last Governor of Northern Nigeria. He served as Chief of Army Staff during the Nigerian Civil War and later became the Deputy Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters. Early life Hassan Usman was born on March 31, 1933 in Katsina to the Fulani royal family of the Sullubawa clan. His father, Usman Nagogo, was the Emir of Katsina from 1944 to 1981. His grandfather, Muhammadu Dikko, was the 47th Emir of Katsina from 1906 to 1944. Katsina was educated at Barewa College. Ilorin, Kwara State
Ilorin is the capital city of Kwara State in Western Nigeria.. History Ilorin was founded by the Yoruba, one of the three largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, in 1450.
