Abdelkader Laïfaoui
Abdelkader Laïfaoui (born 29 July 1981 in Hussein Dey, Algiers) is an Algerian international retired footballer. Mainly a central defender, he could also play as a right back. An Algerian international since 2004, Laïfaoui was a member of the Algeria national team at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He was also a member of the Algeria A' national team that finished fourth at the 2011 African Nations Championship in Sudan. Club career In December 2005, Laïfaoui was linked with a move to Tunisian side Club Africain. Despite traveling to Tunis and agreeing to personal terms with the club, CR Belouizdad refused to release the player and an agreement on a transfer fee could not be reached. On 25 July 2011 Laïfaoui signed a two-year contract with USM Alger, joining them on a free transfer from ES Sétif. Hussein Dey
Hussein Dey (real name Hüseyin bin Hüseyin; 1765 – 1838; ar, حسين داي) was the last Dey of the Deylik of Algiers. Early life He was born either in İzmir or Urla in the Ottoman Empire. He went to Istanbul and joined the Canoneers (Topchys in Turkish), and quickly rose to the rank of Oda-Bachy, but thanks to his character and rivalries, he was forced to flee the Ottoman Empire. He fled to the Deylik of Algiers, a country which was De facto independent from the Ottoman Empire, similar to the other countries of the Barbary Coast. Algiers was well known for accepting fugitives of different countries. In Algiers, he joined the Odjak of Algiers and became a Janissary. In 1815 he was appointed Khodjet al-khil, a minister tasked with raising and commanding the cavalry of the Dey and raising taxes. 2011 African Nations Championship
The 2011 African Nations Championship was the second edition of the African Nations Championship tournament. Each participating nation was represented mostly by players who play in their respective local divisions. The competition was hosted in Sudan from February 4 to 25, 2011. The 2009 North African Cup of Champions was the second edition of the competition initiated by the North African Football Union (UNAF). Algerian side ES Sétif were crowned champions after beating Tunisian champions ES Tunis in a penalty shootout in the final.
