Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat, in the state capital Gandhinagar. Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from single-member constituencies (seats). It has a term of 5 years unless it is dissolved sooner. 13 constituencies are reserved for scheduled castes and 27 constituencies for scheduled tribes. From its majority party group or by way of a grand coalition cabinet of its prominent members,the state's Executive namely the Government of Gujarat is formed. Since 1995 the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is controlled by the Bharatiya Janata Party with a majority after elections. Tarachand Chheda
Tarachand Jagshibhai Chheda (14 July 1951 - 23 April 2022) was an Indian politician and the member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing Mandvi from December 2012 to December 2017. Chheda was also the Minister of State for Cottage Industries, Salt Industries and Cow Protection from 22 May 2014 to August 2016. He was also a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing Abdasa from 1990 to 1995. He died on 23 April 2022 in Bhuj after prolonged illness. Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat, in the state's capital Gandhinagar. As of 2008, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from single-member constituencies. It has term of 5 years, unless it is dissolved sooner. Shaktisinh Harishchandrasinhji Gohil (born 4 April 1960) is an Indian politician. He is a Member of Parliament and a member of the Indian National Congress. He is party in-charge for state affairs of Delhi and national spokesperson of All India Congress Committee. Shaktisinh served as Minister of Finance, Health, Education, Narmada in two consecutive state governments from 1991 to 1995. 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
The 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Gujarat in December 2012 for all 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Incumbent Chief Minister Narendra Modi of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), in power since 2002, was running for his fourth term. The leader of the opposition was Shaktisinh Gohil of the Indian National Congress (INC). Elections were held in two phases, the first on 13 December and the second on 17 December 2012. Total voting turnout of both phases was 71.32%, highest since 1980. Results were declared on 20 December 2012. 2007 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
Gujarat's twelfth legislative election was held in 2007. In this election, the BJP led by Narendra Modi won 117 seats out of 182 (ten seats fewer than in 2002). Congress improved its performance and won 59 seats (eight more than last election). Modi fought elections in Maninagar and won with a major majority.
