Aglia (Abatesco)
The Aglia (french: Ruisseau d'Aglia) is a long stream in the department of Haute-Corse, Corsica, a tributary of the Abatesco. History Some historians say there may have been a town called Aglia along the stream of that name. The stream gives its name to the prehistoric site of Aglia in Serra-di-Fiumorbo (Sarra di Fiumorbu). When the railway line was being built in 1927 a prehistoric necropolis, known as Aglia, was uncovered at a place called Nodo. It has many tombs, each covered by a curved slab, which are arranged in groups. The skeletons are accompanied by stone axes, arrowheads and spears, and some have arrangements of small multi-colored pebbles and fragments of quartz. Geography The Aglia is one of the three main tributaries of the Abatesco, the others being the Buva and the Biaccino. It rises in Ventiseri to the east of Punta di Quarcio Grosso, a peak. It flows for through Serra-di-Fiumorbo in a northeast direction to join the Abatesco to the south of Morta. The stream ...

Rivers Of Haute-Corse
A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases, a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Small rivers can be referred to using names such as Stream#Creek, creek, Stream#Brook, brook, rivulet, and rill. There are no official definitions for the generic term river as applied to Geographical feature, geographic features, although in some countries or communities a stream is defined by its size. Many names for small rivers are specific to geographic location; examples are "run" in some parts of the United States, "Burn (landform), burn" in Scotland and northeast England, and "beck" in northern England. Sometimes a river is defined as being larger than a creek, but not always: the language is vague. Rivers are part of the water cycle. Water generally collects in a river from Precipitation (meteorology), precipitation through a ...

Zone Naturelle D'intérêt écologique, Faunistique Et Floristique
A Zone naturelle d'intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique (Natural zone of ecological interest, fauna and flora), abbreviated as ZNIEFF, is a type of natural environment recognized by France. The inventory of a ZNIEFF area is an inventory of natural resources and scientific program launched in 1982 by Minister of Environment Huguette Bouchardeau and confirmed by the Act of July 12, 1983 called the Bouchardeau act. A ZNIEFF is not a measure of regulatory protection, but an inventory. It corresponds to the census of outstanding natural land areas in the twenty-two metropolitan areas as well as the overseas departments of France. The designation of a ZNIEFF based primarily on the presence of species or groups of species with strong heritage interest. The presence of at least one population of critical species ( :fr:espèce déterminante in French) defines a ZNIEFF. This is one of the bases for prioritizing natural heritage issues as part of the National Biodiversity Strat ...

Strahler Number
In mathematics, the Strahler number or Horton–Strahler number of a mathematical tree is a numerical measure of its branching complexity. These numbers were first developed in hydrology by and ; in this application, they are referred to as the Strahler stream order and are used to define stream size based on a hierarchy of tributaries. They also arise in the analysis of L-systems and of hierarchical biological structures such as (biological) trees and animal respiratory and circulatory systems, in register allocation for compilation of high-level programming languages and in the analysis of social networks. Alternative stream ordering systems have been developed by Shreve and Hodgkinson et al.Hodgkinson, J.H., McLoughlin, S. & Cox, M.E. 2006. The influence of structural grain on drainage in a metamorphic sub-catchment: Laceys Creek, southeast Queensland, Australia. Geomorphology, 81: 394–407.
