He was based in Abadiânia, where he ran a "spiritual healing center" called the Casa de Dom Inácio de Loyola. He received media coverage on CNN, ABC News, and ''The Oprah Winfrey Show''. James Randi and Joe Nickell exposed his healing procedures as nothing more than carnival tricks, and there is no evidence that the benefits that have been reported by patients are anything more than placebo effects. In 2018, after over 600 accusations of sexual abuse, Faria turned himself in to police. In December 2019, he was sentenced to 19 years and four months for the rapes of four women. Corumbá River
The Corumbá River (''Rio Corumbá'' in Portuguese) is the most important river in the Central Plateau region of Brazil. Its source is in the Montes de Pireneus, near Pirenópolis, state of Goiás, near the boundary with the Federal District and its length is 567 km. BR-060 is a federal highway of Brazil. The 1329 kilometre road connects Brasília to Bela Vista, on the Paraguayan border. It is also designated as part of the Belém–Brasília Highway, in its stretch between Brasília and Anápolis.
