Aaron Hill House
The Aaron Hill House is a historic house at 17 Brown Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was built c. 1754, and was originally a two-story structure with a steeply pitched roof. It was moved c. 1867 from its original location at 99 Brattle Street, at which time the third story was added, giving the roof a gambrel shape. The house was built for Deacon Aaron Hill, a prominent local politician, and is one of only seven houses from that period that still stands in the city. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Cambridge ( ) is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. As part of the Boston metropolitan area, the cities population of the 2020 U.S. census was 118,403, making it the fourth most populous city in the state, behind Boston, Worcester, and Springfield. It is one of two de jure county seats of Middlesex County, although the county's executive government was abolished in 1997. Situated directly north of Boston, across the Charles River, it was named in honor of the University of Cambridge in England, once also an important center of the Puritan theology embraced by the town's founders.
