Aarhus School Of Architecture
The Aarhus School of Architecture (Arkitektskolen Aarhus) was founded in 1965 in Aarhus, Denmark. Along with the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen, it is responsible for the education of architects in Denmark. The school has approximately 750 students. Educational structure and content Teaching at the Aarhus School of Architecture is studio-based, emphasising group work and project work. The school places an emphasis on practice-based teaching, while maintaining an artistic approach to architecture. Teaching is organised around a number of research labs, based on on-going and close dialogue with teachers. Workshop facilities allow students to explore their ideas in 3D and in 1:1. Michael Christensen (born 1960) is a Danish architect, founder and head architect of Christensen & Co. Biography Michael Christensen was born in 1960. He graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1989. After working briefly at 3XN he joined Henning Larsen Architects, from 2001 to 2006 as partner and the firm's artistic director. Kim Herforth Nielsen (born 1954) is a Danish architect, co-founder and principal of 3XN. He graduated from Aarhus School of Architecture in 1981 and has been a prominent figure in Danish and international architecture since then. Kim Herforth Nielsen has been at the forefront of a number of noteworthy projects, such as Ørestad College and Royal Arena in Copenhagen, the Danish Embassy in Berlin, International Olympic Committee's HQ in Lausanne and Sydney Fish Market. Helle Juul
Helle Juul (born 1954) is a Danish architect. Together with her husband and partner Flemming Frost (born 1953) she has worked mainly in the area of urban planning and development. In 1990, she and Frost founded Juul Frost Arkitekter in Copenhagen. Michael Sorkin
Michael David Sorkin (August 2, 1948 – March 26, 2020) was an American architectural and urban critic, designer, and educator. He was considered to be "one of architecture's most outspoken public intellectuals", a polemical voice in contemporary culture and the design of urban places at the turn of the twenty-first century. Sorkin first rose to prominence as an architectural critic for the ''Village Voice'' in New York City, a post which he held for a decade throughout the 1980s. In the ensuing years, he taught at prominent universities around the world, practiced through his eponymous firm, established a nonprofit book press, and directed the urban design program at the City College of New York. Kristine Jensen (born 1956), is a Danish architect who has specialized in landscape architecture. Biography Jensen was born in Herning where her father was an architect. When she was 19 she went to Aarhus to study landscape architecture at the Aarhus School of Architecture, graduating in 1983. After a short period working for C. F. Møller Architects, she returned to the architecture school to undertake research leading to a PhD in 1996. From 1996, she taught at the school until in 2002 she founded her own firm, Arkitekt Kristine Jensens Tegnestue. In 2005, she won a competition for landscaping the historic surroundings of Moesgård Museum just outside Aarhus, an assignment completed in collaboration with the museum's director Jan Skamby Madsen.
