Aarhus Idrætsforening af 1900 commonly known as Århus 1900 is a Danish sports club from Århus in Denmark. It has sections for athletics, badminton, orienteering, swimming, triathlon, tennis, volley and football. European Athletics Championships
The European Athletics Championships is a biennial (from 2010) athletics event organised by the European Athletics Association and is recognised as the elite continental outdoor athletics championships for Europe. Editions First held, for men only, in 1934 in Turin, and separately for women for the first time in Vienna in 1938, the Championships took place every four years following the end of the World War II, with the exception of the 1969 and 1971 editions, becoming a joint men's and women's competition from the third edition in 1946 in Oslo. Since 2010, they have been organised every two years, and when they coincide with the Summer Olympics, the marathon and racewalking events are not contested. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. The jumping and throwing events are won by those who achieve the greatest distance or height. Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ), is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest clubs in the country and gymnastics and fencing are featured as its main sports. However, AGF is mostly known for its football department, which was established in 1902. Currently, the club's first team plays in the Danish Superliga, the top flight of the Danish football league system. AGF has won five Danish Football Championships and a record nine Danish Cups. In 1961, AGF reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup where they were knocked out by later winners, Benfica. In 1989, AGF again reached a European quarter-final. Renata Nielsen
Renata Pytelewska-Nielsen is a Poland, Polish-born former Denmark, Danish long jumper. She was born on 18. May 1966 in Otwock, Mazowieckie, Poland. She participated in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. Her personal long jump record is 6.96 meter set in 1994. In Denmark Pytelewska Nielsen was associated with the club ''Ã…rhus 1900'' and she won most Danish golds in long jumps between 1990 and 2001. In Denmark she also participated in 60 metres, 100 metres and triple jump. In 1983 as Renata Pytelewska she met Lars Nielsen, a Danish pole vaulter. She moved to Denmark and in 1988 she gave birth to their twins. She got Danish citizenship in 1992. Since retiring from athletics she has been physical coach for the Denmark women's national football team, Dansk Sejlunion and the football team of Aarhus Gymnastikforening, AGF. Christina Scherwin
Christina Scherwin (born 11 July 1976) is a Danish people, Danish javelin thrower. Scherwin threw the javelin at the Athens Athletics at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Women's javelin throw, 2004 Summer Olympics and the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. Her biggest success was at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, where she threw the javelin 63.43 meters, placing fourth overall in the event. She finished second at the 2003 World University games in Daegu, sixth at the 2005 IAAF World Athletics Final, 2005 World Athletics Final in Monaco, fifth at the 2006 European Athletics Championships, 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, and third at the 2006 IAAF World Athletics Final, 2006 World Athletics Final in Stuttgart. Joachim Olsen
Joachim Brøchner Olsen (born 31 May 1977) is a Danish former politician and former world class shot putter. He was elected to the Danish parliament at the 2011 election, representing the Liberal Alliance in the Greater Copenhagen constituency. As an athlete, he represented Århus 1900. With ten straight international finals, Joachim holds the longest string of appearances in finals at Olympic, World and European Championships among throwers. From October 2003, Olsen was coached by former olympic finalist Vesteinn Hafsteinsson. From February 2007 until Joachim B. Olsen ended his career in July 2009, Olsen was coached by Simon Patrick Stewart. Athletic career Olsen was born in Aalborg. The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical ball—the ''shot''—as far as possible. The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948. History Homer mentions competitions of rock throwing by soldiers during the Siege of Troy but there is no record of any dead weights being thrown in Greek competitions. The first evidence for stone- or weight-throwing events were in the Scottish Highlands, and date back to approximately the first century.
