Aangan (novel)
''Aangan'' (), alternatively spelled ''Angan'', is a period novel by Pakistani novelist and short story writer Khadija Mastoor. Published in 1962, it is hailed as a masterpiece of Urdu literature. It won Mastoor the 1963 Adamjee Literary Award for Urdu prose and has been translated into 13 languages. English translations of the novel by Daisy Rockwell titled ''Inner Courtyard'' and ''The Women's Courtyard'' were published in 2000 and 2018, respectively. A Pakistani TV series adaptation of the novel starring Mawra Hocane, Ahad Raza Mir, Ahsan Khan and Sajal Aly was aired on Hum TV from 2018 to 2019. Renewed interest in the novel caused it to become the number one bestseller in the country in 2019. ''Aangan'' is a 1973 Bollywood family drama film directed by Nasir Hussain. It stars Farida Jalal, Deb Mukherjee, Indrani Mukherjee, Ashim Kumar, Dilip Raj, Leela Mishra and Nazir Hussain. The film revolves around two brothers and the misunderstandings caused by the younger brother's wife. Hussain wrote the story, screenplay and dialogue for the film aside from directing it, for producers Jagdish Massand and Pratap Kumar, who produced the film under the J. P. Films banner. The music of the film was composed by the music director duo Sonik-Omi, with lyrics by Indeevar. Plot The story is about two brothers leading a contented life in a joint family. The older one is married and he and his wife look after the younger brother as their own son. Misunderstandings occur when the younger one marries and brings his wife to live in the joint family. ''Aangan'' ( ur, , lit=Courtyard) is a Pakistani family drama television series premiered on 18 November 2017 on ARY Digital and ended on 12 July 2018. It was written by Faiza Iftikhar, directed by Qasim Ali Mureed and created by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib under Six Sigma Plus. The serial was broadcast on ARY Digital, as a part of night prime time slot programming. ''Aangan'' () is a Pakistani period drama series based on the Aangan (novel), award-winning novel of the same name by Khadija Mastoor and originally broadcast on Hum TV.
