Aage Giødesen (September 1, 1863 – August 4, 1939) was a Danish painter who worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is mainly known for landscapes, as well as for portraits and marine subjects. Biography Giødesen was born in the Danish port town of Korsør. He was the son of Navy Commander Peter Ferdinand Giødesen (1829-1905) and Laura Susanne Georgine Storch (1830-1922). He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts ''(Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi)'' in Copenhagen, where he was a student of Frederik Vermehren, Carl Heinrich Bloch, and Carl F. Andersen. He was employed as a Professor of Drawing at the Royal Danish Naval Academy (''Søværnets Officersskole'') from the spring of 1886 until 1907. Aage Hertel (17 October 1873 – 3 January 1944) was a Danish stage, radio and film actor whose career began in the 1890s working as a stagehand and set painter. Hertel appeared in approximately ninety films during the silent film area. Early life and career Aage Hertel was born in Frederiksberg to Royal Danish Army colonel Harald Christian Hertel and Michaelle Elisabeth (''née'' Thomsen) Hertel. After he finished his studies, he began working as a stagehand and set painter before studying drama at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. In 1901, he began an engagement as an actor at the Dagmarteatret in Copenhagen which lasted until 1909. He played on various tours of the Danish provinces and in Norway before beginning an engagement at the Odense Teater for the 1923–1924 season. Aage Hermann (5 April 1888 – 29 August 1949) was a Danish author and journalist. Hermann's first poem was published in 1903 and his first collection was published in 1909. He worked for the state railways until 1915 when he became a journalist at the newspaper ''Ekstra Bladet''. He wrote several poems for the newspaper which were critical of the First World War and its effects on neutral seamen. His poems were also published in the 1915 collection ''Krigens Digte'' (''The Poems of the War''). He also later worked at '' B.T.'' and was the editor of ''Sport'' magazine from 1931 to 1932. He published 8 collections of poetry between 1912 and 1942. Aage Haugland (1 February 1944 – 23 December 2000) was a Danish operatic bass. Life and career Haugland was born in Copenhagen and made his professional debut in Oslo in 1968. From 1970 to 1973 he was based in Bremen, and appeared at Den Jyske Opera in Aarhus in 1972. In 1973 he became a member of the Royal Danish Opera, where in 1985 he was made a Kammersanger. His engagements outside Denmark included roles at La Scala, Milan, The Metropolitan Opera, New York City, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals, the Opéra National de Paris and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 1989 he was honoured as "Person of the Year" by the Danish-American Society of New York. He died of cancer in Lillerød, Denmark.
