A Wedding Dream
''A Wedding Dream'' (German: ''Ein Hochzeitstraum'') is a 1936 German comedy film directed by Erich Engel and starring Ida Wüst, Heinz Salfner and Inge List. It was shot at the Johannisthal Studios of Tobis Film in Berlin. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Karl Haacker and Hermann Warm. Plot Taking place just after the First World War in Poland close to the border with Russia where a widow runs a successful inn. She has made enough money and now wishes to settle down and marry a nobleman, which will consequently allow her daughter Vera to make a good social match. However things go wrong during a holiday on the French Riviera when her daughter falls in love with a chauffeur instead of the prince she had planned for her. To cap it all she discovers that the supposed nobleman she herself has married is in fact just a servant. Erich Engel
Erich Gustav Otto Engel (14 February 1891 – 10 May 1966) was a German film and theatre director.He is often confused with another German film director called Erich Engels, who specialised in comedy, and crime films. Biography Engel was born in Hamburg, where later he studied at the School of Applied Arts. After finishing there he worked briefly as a journalist, then learnt acting at the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, after which he spent several years with a touring theatre company. In 1917 and 1918 Engel was the dramaturgist in the ''Deutsches Schauspielhaus'', and later in the ''Hamburger Kammerspiele''. After a short engagement with the '' Bayerische Staatstheater'' in Munich he moved in 1924 to Berlin. Hermann Warm
Hermann Warm was a German art director for films. Born in 1889 (died 1976) in Berlin, Germany, Warm was an important figure in the expressionist movement of the 1920s. Warm entered the German film industry in 1912 after working on-stage for a while. As well as doing set work on films such as '' The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'' and Fritz Lang's ''Destiny'', Warm also worked with Danish film director Carl Theodor Dreyer on films including ''The Passion of Joan of Arc'' and ''Vampyr''. During World War II, Warm lived in Switzerland and returned to Germany in 1947. Theo Lingen (; 10 June 1903 – 10 November 1978), born Franz Theodor Schmitz, was a German actor, film director and screenwriter. He appeared in more than 230 films between 1929 and 1978, and directed 21 films between 1936 and 1960. Life and career Lingen was born the son of a lawyer in the city of Hanover, and grew up there. He attended the Royal Goethe Gymnasium – the predecessor of the Goethe School – in Hanover, but left before taking the Abitur (final exams). Ferdinand Heinrich Johann Haschkowetz (14 August 1902 – 7 August 1946), known by the stage name Ferdinand Marian, was an Austrian actor. A chauffeur is a person employed to drive a passenger motor vehicle, especially a luxury vehicle such as a large sedan or limousine.
