''A Sting in the Tale'' is a 1989 Australian political satire film directed by Eugene Schlusser and starring Diane Craig and Gary Day.David Stratton, ''The Avocado Plantation: Boom and Bust in the Australian Film Industry'', Pan MacMillan, 1990 p225 Plot Diane Lane ( Diane Craig) is elected to Canberra as an MP. Her married lover, Barry Robbins ( Gary Day), is Minister for Health and her best friend is journalist Louise Parker (Lynne Williams). Barry wants to depose the current Prime Minister and tries to enlist the support of media baron Roger Monroe ( Edwin Hodgeman). However Diane is angry at Monroe for suppressing news of negligence in a mining disaster which killed her father and twenty others. Diane leaks a document to embarrass the government about its plans for media ownership. The Prime Minister appoints her as Minister to the Arts in order to control her. Patrick Edgeworth
Patrick Edgeworth (born 25 December 1932 in London) is an English stage and screenwriter. Early life Edgeworth grew up in England. In 1969, he arrived in Australia to be best man at the wedding of his pianist brother Ron and Judith Durham, former lead singer of The Seekers. He remained in Australia. Television Edgeworth began working as an actor for film and television, mostly in the police dramas made by Crawford Productions. In 1971, after submitting a script to them, he was offered a position as writer on Matlock Police, which he initially declined, as it would have meant forgoing acting. However, when he compared his recent earnings as an actor to what he was being offered as a staff writer, he opted for writing. After writing eighteen episodes in eighteen months at Crawfords he left, and with co-producer Russell Hagg, formed a production company, Homestead Films. Rosa Colosimo
Rosa Colosimo (born 25 June 1949 in Tropea, Italy) is an Australian film producer. Career Colosimo was born in Calabria, Italy, and moved to Melbourne, Australia with her family in 1951, where her parents ran a greengrocer's shop. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Melbourne University along with a Diploma of Education and began teaching Italian. She owned the only Italian book shop in the Southern hemisphere and became quite successful. Diane Craig
Diane Mary Craig (born 1949), sometimes credited as Di Craig, is a Northern Irish-born Australian actress best known for her performances in film and television. She was born in County Down, and since 1971 has been married to award-winning Australian actor and comedian Garry McDonald. Gary Day (born 10 November 1941) is a New Zealand former actor, playwright and lighting director who has appeared in Australian television police drama series, including ''Homicide'' and ''Murder Call''. Television Day worked as a male model and appeared in several television commercials. This led to guest roles in episodes of '' Skippy the Bush Kangaroo'', police dramas ''The Link Men'', '' The Long Arm'', ''Homicide'' and ''Matlock Police'' produced by Crawford Productions. This culminated in the regular role of Senior Detective Phillip Redford in Crawford's series ''Homicide'' in 1973. Redford was a university graduate who had served as a bomb disposal expert in Vietnam, and was anti-violence as a result.
