"A Slow Bus to Chingford" is an episode of the BBC sitcom ''Only Fools and Horses''. It was the fifth episode of series 1, and was first broadcast on 6 October 1981. In the episode, Del acquires an old double decker bus and decides to give tours around London. Synopsis As Rodney invites his girlfriend to the flat, Del Boy gives him a job as a nocturnal security officer (NSO) within new security company ''Trotter Watch'' (TW). As Rodney is sent to guard a bus depot, Del frightens him by whistling along with him while out of sight. The next morning at Nelson Mandela House, as Grandad tells Del that he used to be a security officer before the war, Rodney is woken up to hear Del's latest get-rich-quick scheme: Trotters Ethnic Tours. Ronald Hazlehurst (13 March 1928 – 1 October 2007) was an English composer and conductor who, having joined the BBC in 1961, became its Light Entertainment Musical Director. Hazlehurst composed the theme tunes for many well-known British sitcoms and gameshows of the 1970s and the 1980s, including ''Yes Minister'', ''Are You Being Served?'', ''I Didn't Know You Cared'' and ''Last of the Summer Wine''. Lennard Pearce (9 February 1915 – 15 December 1984) was an English actor who worked in theatre and television. He was perhaps best known as Grandad in the BBC television series ''Only Fools and Horses'', in which he starred from 1981 until his death in December 1984. Early life Pearce was born on February 9, 1915, in Paddington. He trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Jack the Ripper was an unidentified serial killer active in and around the impoverished Whitechapel district of London, England, in the autumn of 1888.
