''A Semana'' (Portuguese meaning "The Week") is a Cape Verdean daily that covers its top stories in the archipelago and local stories ranging from each island. ''A Semana'' is located in the Cape Verdean capital city of Praia and is one of the most circulated newspapers and dailies in Cape Verde. Its slogan is the "First Capeverdean Daily (not often as Diary which is also translated in English, when it is to daily, it is not translated as) in Line" ("Primeiro diário caboverdiano em linha"). Corsino Fortes
Corsino António Fortes (14 February 1933 – 24 July 2015) was a Cape Verdean writer, poet and diplomat. He served as the first Ambassador of Cape Verde to Portugal from 1975 until 1981 following his country's independence. Biography Fortes was born in Mindelo on Cape Verde's São Vicente island in 1933. He is a graduate in law of the University of Lisbon (1966), chaired the ''Association of Cape Verde Writers'' (2003-2006) and is the author of some of the most significant works of Cape Verdean literature. He has worked as a teacher and a lawyer and he served as Cape Verde's ambassador to Portugal. He was a judge in Angola in the capital Luanda and Benguela and joined several governments in the Cape Verde Republic. He represented the PAICV. João Branco
João Guedes Branco (b. 1 July 1968) is a French-born Portuguese theatrical actor and reviewer, professor, and programmer. He had a theatrical career for over 30 years and appeared in more than 50 plays, most of them in Mindelo, Cape Verde. Branco was the founder of the Portuguese Cultural Centre's Theatrical Group and started a new era in theater on the island of São Vicente. He took part in the Mindelo International Film Festival, which is a major event in lusophony African theatre.
