Shui Hua
Shui Hua () (November 23, 1916 – December 16, 1995), born Zhang Yufan,Zhang, Yingjin & Xiao, Zhiwei (1998). "Shui Hua" in ''Encyclopedia of Chinese Film''. Taylor & Francis, p. 305. . was a Chinese film director who gained prominence in the 1950s in the early years of the People's Republic of China. Career Born in Nanjing in 1916, Shui Hua studied to be an attorney at Fudan University in Shanghai. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, Shui made his way to the Yan'an where he became a member of the Communist Party of China. After the war, Shui became involved in theater while teaching eventually moving into filmmaking with his 1950 debut film, ''The White Haired Girl''. Later in the decade, he directed the critically acclaimed '' The Lin Family Shop'', based on a short story by the author Mao Dun. In 1961, Yu won the award for Best Actress at the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival for her performance in ''A Revolutionary Family''. Her youngest son is Chinese director and Beijing Film Academy professor Tian Zhuangzhuang. Life Yu was born 1921 in Xiuyan, Liaoning as Yu Peiwen (). Sun Daolin () (December 18, 1921 – December 28, 2007) was a Chinese actor and film director. Biography Sun Daolin was born in Beijing on November 18, 1921. He was born Sun Yiliang 孙以亮 into a family of four children. His father Sun Wenyao (孫文耀) was trained as railroad engineer in Brussels, Belgium. His mother Fan Nianhua (范念华) and father both are originally from Jiashan County, Zhejiang. He along with all his siblings learned to speak English since grade school. He attended Yenching University, but his studies in philosophy were interrupted by the Second Sino-Japanese War. During the war he was active in patriotic activities including stage acting and he was jailed briefly by the Japanese Puppet Regime. After the war, he completed his studies and received a degree in philosophy in 1947. His career had spanned much of the PRC history.
