Rainer Hartleb (born 29 February 1944 in Hildburghausen, Germany) is a German-Swedish director of documentary films. He is best known for the ''Jordbro'' suite, a series of films that follows a group of people from Jordbro from the age of seven, when they began school in 1972, until the present. , Hartleb has made six ''Jordbro'' films. The Guldbagge for Best Director is a Swedish film award presented annually by the Swedish Film Institute (SFI) as part of the Guldbagge Awards (Swedish: "Guldbaggen") to directors working in the Swedish motion picture industry. History Throughout the past 50 years, SFI has presented a total of 50 Best Director awards to 40 different directors. Along with the categories Best Film, Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role, the award for Best director were one of the four original price categories which was presented at the first award ceremony in 1964. Jordbro
Jordbro is a suburban locality situated in Haninge Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 10,291 inhabitants in 2010. The suburb is separated in two by the Stockholm commuter rail. Route 73 (Nynäsvägen), passes just east of Jordbro and connects Stockholm and Nynäshamn. East of the railway lies a housing area built as part of the Million Programme, in the 1960s and 1970s. The housing area is made up of blocks of flats, with single family homes to the north and to the south. To the west of the housing area and the railway lies a relatively large industrial area, containing the main offices and production plant of The Coca-Cola Company in Sweden. Dagab, Lagena, Osram and Åhlens also have distribution warehouses in the industrial area. Just to the south, between Jordbro and Västerhaninge is Jordbro Grave Field, a burial ground, thought to have been used somewhere between 500 BC and 500 CE. The Swedish Film Institute ( sv, Svenska Filminstitutet) was founded in 1963 to support and develop the Swedish film industry. The institute is housed in the ''Filmhuset'' building located in Gärdet, Östermalm in Stockholm. The building, completed in 1970, was designed by architect Peter Celsing. Function The Swedish Film Institute supports Swedish filmmaking and allocates grants for production, distribution and public showing of Swedish films in Sweden. The ''Up'' series of documentary films follows the lives of ten males and four females in England beginning in 1964, when they were seven years old. The first film was titled ''Seven Up!'', with later films adjusting the number in the title to match the age of the subjects at the time of filming.
