''A Month in the Country'' (russian: Месяц в деревне, translit=Mesiats v derevne, links=no) is a play in five acts by Ivan Turgenev, his only well-known work for the theatre. Originally titled ''The Student'', it was written in France between 1848 and 1850 and first published in 1855 as ''Two Women''. Maria Alexandrovna Samarova (russian: Мария Александровна Самарова, Grekova in marriage; 2 April 1852 – 31 May 1919) was a Moscow-born Russian and Soviet stage actress and reader in drama (later a costume salon owner), associated with the Moscow Art Theatre. Stanislavski's system is a systematic approach to training actors that the Russian theatre practitioner Konstantin Stanislavski developed in the first half of the twentieth century.
