''Un uomo da bruciare'' (internationally released as ''A Man for Burning'') is a 1962 Italian drama film. It is the first feature film directed by Valentino Orsini and Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. It entered the 1962 Venice Film Festival, in which it won the Italian Film Critics Award. It is based on the life of the Sicilian union organizer Salvatore Carnevale. Paolo And Vittorio Taviani
Paolo Taviani (; born 8 November 1931) and Vittorio Taviani (; 20 September 1929 – 15 April 2018), collectively referred to as the Taviani brothers, were Italian film directors and screenwriters who collaborated on film productions. At the Cannes Film Festival, the Taviani brothers won the ''Palme d'Or'' and the FIPRESCI prize for ''Padre Padrone'' in 1977 and the ''Grand Prix (Cannes Film Festival), Grand Prix du Jury'' for ''La notte di San Lorenzo'' (''The Night of the Shooting Stars'', 1982). In 2012 they won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival with ''Caesar Must Die''. Vittorio Taviani died on 15 April 2018 at the age of 88. Marina Malfatti
Marina Malfatti (25 April 1933 – 8 June 2016) was an Italian actress. Biography Born in Florence, Malfatti moved to Paris at the age of 17 where she attended the Cours d'Art Dramatique, the drama school founded by René Simon. Two years later, after returning to Italy, she obtained a scholarship for the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and started appearing in films and on stage in some small roles. Her theater career was launched by Arnoldo Foà who chose her as his co-star in the play ''Two for the Seesaw'' by William Gibson. Hence Malfatti's stage career alternated comedic and dramatic roles. During the 1970s, Malfatti was an icon of Italian horror films, especially of demonic background. In the 1980s, her career focused on theatre, and in 1986 Alberto Moravia wrote specifically for her the drama ''La cintura''. Salvatore "Turi" Ferro (10 January 1921 – 10 May 2001) was an Italian film, television and stage actor. He is considered the most important actor in the Sicilian theatre post-World War II era. Life and career Born in Catania, Ferro launched his own theatrical company in 1953 alongside his wife, actress Ida Carrara. He later staged a great number of works by Sicilian authors. He was one of the co-founders of the Teatro Stabile di Catania. His stage credits include works directed by Roberto Rossellini and Giorgio Strehler. Valentino Orsini (19 January 1927 in Pisa – 26 January 2001 in Cerveteri) was an Italian film director. After his first interests to arts (he had been sculptor, stage designer, cinema critic, cineclub animator) in his hometown, in 1954 Valentino Orsini directed with the brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani (born in the near small city of San Miniato) the documentary ''San Miniato: luglio'' 1944. After other documentaries, most with Taviani brothers, he realized his first fiction films in 1962 and in 1963, both with the two brothers. After other documentaries Orsini directed his first fiction film alone, ''I dannati della terra'' in 1969. Despite his few fiction films (but he realized a lot of documentaries all around the world) Orsini is highly considered for his role in renewing Italian cinema in 1960s and 1970s, facing subjects such as the peasants' fights in Sicily, the divorce, the underdeveloped countries.
