''A Heart Stops Beating'' (Hungarian: ''Egy szív megáll'') is a 1942 Hungarian drama film directed by László Kalmár and starring Katalin Karády, Tivadar Uray and Árpád Lehotay. Rîpeanu p.114 It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Ferenc Daday. László Kalmár (director)
László Kalmár (1900–1980) was a Hungarian screenwriter and film director. Cunningham p.37 He began his career in the Horthy era, learning his craft as an assistant director before directing his first film in 1939. His melodrama ''Flames'' was screened at the 1941 Venice Film Festival. He was able to continue his career at the end of the Second World War, unlike many other Hungarian filmmakers, and transitioned to working under the new Hungarian People's Republic, Communist regime. Manyi Kiss (Born Margit Kiss; 12 March 1911 – 24 March 1971) was a Hungarian actress. Career She was born in Magyarlóna, Kolozs County, Hungary ''(now Luna de Sus, Romania)'', to Lajos Kiss and Zsuzsanna Nagy. She acted from 1926 in Cluj ''(in Hungarian: Kolozsvár)'', from 1928 in Miskolc and then between 1929 and 1932 in Szeged, Hungary.
