''A Girl Goes Ashore'' (german: Ein Mädchen geht an Land) is a 1938 German drama film directed by Werner Hochbaum and starring Elisabeth Flickenschildt, Günther Lüders and Heidi Kabel.Kreimeier p. 287 It is set in the port city of Hamburg and was partly shot on location there. It was made at the Babelsberg Studios in Berlin as well as in Hamburg. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Karl Haacker and Willy Schiller. Edith Meinhard
Edith Meinhard was a German actress who appeared in more than fifty films during her career including the 1929 film ''Diary of a Lost Girl''. Life and Work Little is known about Edith Meinhard, although in the 1930s she was one of the busiest actresses in Germany. She made her silent film debut at the age of 10.Edith Meinhard: Von Ratten und Autogrammjägern, in: Mein Film, Nr. 300, S. 12 A few years later, the Defu production company hired her for two silent films. In 1929 she appeared as Erika, the friend of Thymian (Louise Brooks), in G. W. Pabst's critically acclaimed film ''Diary of a Lost Girl''.
