A Deadly Secret (film)
''A Deadly Secret'' (; literal meaning ''Mnemonic of the Linked Cities'') is a 1980 Hong Kong film directed by Mou Tun-fei, produced by the Shaw Brothers Studio, and starring Ng Yuen-chun, Liu Lai-ling, Jason Pai Piao, Shih Szu, and Elliot Ngok. Based on Louis Cha's 1963 novel of the same name, the film follows Di Yun, a young martial artist who is falsely imprisoned and uncovers a conspiracy in the martial arts world that forces him to confront those he once revered and respected. Plot A student of the renowned martial artist Qi Zhangfa (Tong Kam-tong), Di Yun (Ng Yuen-chun), is sentenced to death on charges of larceny and rape. He proclaims his innocence, claiming that he had been set up but is ignored by the sadistic jailers who regularly taunt and abuse him, and is horrified in their treatment of another inmate, Ding Dian (Jason Pai Piao), whom they and the presiding magistrate, Ling Tuisi ( Elliot Ngok) seem to torture purely out of pleasure. Mou Tun-fei
Mou Tun-fei () (May 3, 1941 - May 25, 2019) was a Chinese filmmaker known for directing the infamous 1988 horror film ''Men Behind the Sun''. Biography Born on May 3, 1941 in Shandong, China, Mou's family left China for Taiwan in 1949 due to Chinese Civil War. Mou graduated from National School of Arts (now National Taiwan University of Arts) that could not even afford equipment for the students. Mou thus was forced to learn filmmaking by theory alone, mainly by watching films numerous times in theaters and identifying how many cuts the films contained. After graduation, Mou was assistant director on an anti-communist propaganda film called ''Give Back My Country'' and then directed numerous Taiwanese films in a style akin to the Italian neorealist movement. His first and second feature ''I don't dare to tell you'' (1969) and ''At the runway's edge'' (1970) were both banned by Taiwanese government, especially the latter film contained homosexual overtones. Chan Shen
Chan Shen (11 March 1940 - 26 April 1984) was a Taiwanese-born Hong Kong film actor. He is best known for his roles as gangsters or villains in Hong Kong action cinema in the 1970s. Already an established film actor in Taiwan, he entered the Hong Kong film industry in 1971. He was a particularly prolific actor and would often appear in as many as ten films a year. In his fourteen-year film career in Hong Kong, he appeared in 160 action films. Much of his career was spent at Hong Kong's Shaw Studio. Fung Ging-man (), (22 January 1912 – 9 November 1997) sometimes credited as Ging-man Fung and Fung King-Man, was a Cantonese Hong Kong actor, script supervisor, production manager and director. He acted in over 300 films, and he also played as himself in '' Bruce Lee, the Man and the Legend'', which starred Bruce Lee. History Fung was born in the city of Shanghai in 1912, eventually moving to Nanjing as a child.
