A Common Man (film)
''A Common Man'' is a 2013 Sri Lankan thriller film directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Chandran Rutnam, starring Ben Kingsley and Ben Cross. The film is an official remake of the Indian film, ''A Wednesday!'' (2008). A Common Man won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor awards at the Madrid International Film Festival and bronze medal in the Feature Films category at the New York Festivals’ International Television and Film Awards, three of the 119 Gold World Medals, 145 Silver, 104 Bronze, and 327 Finalist Certificates awarded that day. Plot The film starts in a room full of bomb making material and newspaper articles about LTTE bombings in Sri Lanka, the screen then cuts to a typical busy morning in Colombo. Chandran Rutnam
Chandran Rutnam is a Sri Lankan filmmaker and entrepreneur. Rutnam has hosted numerous Hollywood films for their location shoots in Sri Lanka and Malaysia. He was the Line Producer/Production Supervisor on several international productions including the Sri Lankan location shoot of Paramount Pictures' ''Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'' (1984) and '' Indochine'' (1992). He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Film Location Services which mostly hosts foreign films to be shot in South and South East Asia. Steven Spielberg once referred to Rutnam as "Our most valued friend in the Far East". Rutnam has also worked with Sir David Lean, Sir Carol Reed, John Boorman, George Lucas and Regis Wargnier. Sando Harris
Sando Harris, (18 May 1963 – 11 June 2021; si, සැන්ඩෝ හැරිස්), popularly known by his stage names Sando Harris and Sergeant Nallathambi, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theater, and television. With a career spanned more than three decades, Sando was a popular comedian in theater and cinema. Apart from comedy acting, he was also a stunt actor, producer, director and singer. Personal life He was born on 18 May 1963 in kirulapone, Sri Lanka to a family of eight. He received his primary education at Arethusa College, Wellawatte, and secondary education from Isipathana College and Zahira College, Colombo. He died on 11 June 2021 at the age of 58.
