ATSZ
The Association of Trust Schools (ATS) is an organisation of independent primary and secondary schools in Zimbabwe that was founded in 1962. Each of these schools are run by their own Board of Governors and are not for profit entities. The Heads of ATS schools are eligible for membership in the CHISZ. There are 66 schools in the ATS. History In 1962 CHISZ was formed with nine member headmasters: those of Arundel, Bishopslea, Chisipite, Eagle, Falcon, Peterhouse, St. Peter's, Springvale, Whitestone and Bernard Mizeki College. Their purpose was mutual support and encouragement. By the mid-1970s, twenty-four schools attended the Conference. A dip then followed leading up to independence with only nine members attending in 1981. However, the Independence War years had led to a number of member schools closing down, including two of its founder members (Eagle and St. Peter’s), while two other founder member schools closed but did re-open (Whitestone and Springvale). Hartmann House Preparatory School
Hartmann House Preparatory School (or Hartmann House, also referred to as HH) is an independent, preparatory, day school for boys in Harare, Zimbabwe. The school was founded in 1957 and named after Fr Hartmann SJ, a chaplain to the Pioneer Column who lived at St. George's College, Harare. Hartmann House Preparatory School is a member of the Association of Trust Schools (ATS) and the Head is a member of the Conference of Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe (CHISZ). History In 1957, 30 years after St George's College relocated to Salisbury (now Harare), it was decided to build a separate preparatory school on the newly acquired land near the Borrowdale Road. Chisipite Junior School
Chisipite Junior School is an independent, preparatory, day school for girls in Harare, Zimbabwe. The school was founded in 1929 by Maisie Jenkinson as a small farm school. Chisipite Junior School is a member of the Association of Trust Schools (ATS) and the Head is a member of the Conference of Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe (CHISZ). History In Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe) a land surveyor named Mr. Jenkinson bought a farm for his retirement and named it "Chisipite", a Shona word meaning "water from below" or "spring". He and his family moved into the house in 1922. When he died, his wife Mrs. Gertrude May (Maisie) Jenkinson (a teacher by profession) decided to educate Betty, her only daughter, at home, as she felt she was too young to go to boarding school. Bryden Country School
Bryden Country School (or Bryden) is an independent, preparatory, boarding and day school for boys and girls in Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. The school was founded in 1983. Bryden Country School is a member of the Association of Trust Schools (ATS) and the Head is a member of the Conference of Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe (CHISZ). History In September 1981, a group of local farmers and businessmen from Chegutu convened to discuss the possibilities of creating a school. Lambourne Farm, of was the site chosen to establish the school. The farm was donated by Mr and Mrs Black on condition that the school be named after Mr Black’s great great grandmother, Jane Bryden. Dominican Convent Primary School, Bulawayo
Dominican Convent Primary School (also known as Convent or DC) is a Catholic, independent, preparatory day school for girls in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The school was founded in 1895 by the Dominican Sisters, laying its claim to being the oldest school in Bulawayo and in Zimbabwe. Initially co-educational, the institution become a girls' school in the 1950s, when St. Thomas Aquinas Primary School was opened to cater for the boys. Springvale School
Springvale House Preparatory School (commonly known as Springvale or Springvale House) is an independent, preparatory, boarding and day school in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe that was established in 1952. The school shares facilities with Peterhouse Girls' School on the Springvale Estate of approximately with Gosho Park, a conservation area on the estate, being adjacent to the two schools.
