ATRL
ATRL (previously known as Absolute TRL and PopFusion) is an Internet forum that discusses pop culture. History Absolute TRL was founded in 1999, as a fan site of MTV's TV Show ''Total Request Live''. In 2005, the main site was closed in favor of the forum. It got renamed to PopFusion in 2006, and retained that name for a year. In 2007 it was renamed to ATRL. Despite the cancelation of ''Total Request Live'' in late 2008, it continued operating as a general pop culture forum. In 2017, ATRL gained media attention when a member of the forum discovered hidden artwork, and incomplete tracklist of Taylor Swift's then-upcoming sixth studio album, ''Reputation'' (2017), ahead of the official announcement on her website. In a BuzzFeed article on pop fandom culture, ATRL is described as a "space for fans to argue in favor of their chosen artist with statistics and ideas about cultural impact". ''Total Request Live'' (known commonly as ''TRL'') was an American television program broadcast on MTV that premiered on September 14, 1998. TRL featured popular music videos played during its countdown, and was also used as a promotion tool by musicians, actors, and other celebrity, celebrities to promote their newest works to the show's target Teen culture, teen demographics, demographic. During the original run of the program, ''TRL'' played the ten most Request (broadcasting), requested music videos of the day, as voted by viewers via phone or online. The show generally aired Monday through Thursday for one hour, though the scheduling and length of the show fluctuated over the years. Although ''TRL'' was billed as a live show, many episodes were actually pre-recorded. An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are often longer than one line of text, and are at least temporarily archived. Also, depending on the access level of a user or the forum set-up, a posted message might need to be approved by a moderator before it becomes publicly visible. Invision Community is a brand of forum software developed in 2002 and originally marketed as Invision Power Board. The current version of the software was written in PHP and uses MySQL for database storage.
