Slovakia Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Slovakia men's national ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of Slovakia and is controlled by the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation. A successor to the Czechoslovakia national team, it is one of the most successful national ice hockey teams in the world. The team's general manager is Miroslav Šatan and their head coach is Craig Ramsay. Slovakia has won four medals at the World Championships, including a gold medal in 2002 in Sweden, and a bronze medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics. HK Slávia Partizánske, also known as Danlog Partizánske for sponsorship reasons, is a Slovak women's handball club from Partizánske. Founded in 1965 as TJ Iskra Partizánske, it took its current name in 1997. It currently competes in the WHIL. After debuting in the Czechoslovak Championship in 1975, Iskra rose to the top between 1979 and 1981, winning in this period two championships, one national cup and most notably the 1980 IHF Cup Winners' Cup, beating Lokomotiva Zagreb in the final on penalties. As of 2013 it remains the only EHF women's trophy won by a Slovak team, as well as the only Cup Winners' Cup won by a team from former Czechoslovakia. HT Tatran Prešov is a handball club from Prešov, Slovakia, that plays in the Slovenská hadzanárska extraliga, Niké Handball Extraliga, SEHA League, EHF European League. History The official establishment of the club begins in 1952 under the name Slavia CSSA. In 1954, Tatran successfully qualified for the championship of Czechoslovakia, where they won their first historic bronze medal. In 1967, the national team of Czechoslovakia became world champion in Sweden. Four Tatran Presov players were in the national team at that time: Anton Frolo, Martin Gregor, Vladimir Seruga and Rudolf Horváth.
