ASU Stadium (Alabama)
ASU Stadium is an American football stadium in Montgomery, Alabama, on the campus of Alabama State University that serves as the home field for the Alabama State Hornets football team. The stadium opened in 2012 and replaced the Cramton Bowl as the home of ASU football. ASU Stadium's inaugural game was played November 22, 2012, when it hosted the 89th Turkey Day Classic in which the Hornets hosted the Tuskegee Golden Tigers. The game, won by Tuskegee 27–25, was a sell-out and was televised nationally on ESPNU. The stadium's current capacity sits at 26,500 but the facility is designed to allow for future expansion that can increase the capacity to 55,000. Other uses The stadium also holds a restaurant and retail space which allows other uses throughout the year. The stadium itself hosts other events such as concerts, band competitions, soccer matches, and other sporting events by partnering with the Central Alabama Sports Commission. Montgomery, Alabama
Montgomery is the capital city of the U.S. state of Alabama and the county seat of Montgomery County. The Tuskegee Golden Tigers football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Tuskegee University located in the U.S. state of Alabama. The team competes in the NCAA Division II level and are members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1913. Alabama State University
Alabama State University (ASU) is a public historically black university in Montgomery, Alabama. Founded in 1867, ASU is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. History Alabama State University was founded in 1867 as the Lincoln Normal School of Marion in Marion. In December 1873, the State Board accepted the transfer of title to the school after a legislative act was passed authorizing the state to fund a Normal School, and George N. Card was named president. Thus, in 1874, this predecessor of Alabama State University became America's first state-supported educational institution for blacks. Cramton Bowl is a 25,000-seat stadium located in Montgomery, Alabama. Cramton Bowl opened in 1922 as a baseball stadium and has been home to Major League Baseball spring training and to minor league baseball. Today, however, its primary use is for American football.
