ASN Canada FIA
ASN Canada FIA was founded in 1990, after Canada's original National Sporting Authority, Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs (CASC), was expelled from the FIA. In a then-unprecedented motion, the country's sporting authority was entrusted completely to a single person, Benoit Mailloux. The expulsion ensued after legal battles between the nation's top breweries over sponsorship rights to the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix. The 1987 Canadian Grand Prix was cancelled as part of this dispute, which stemmed from FOCA's demands for increased fees for Formula One teams. Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Pirelli is a Canadian professional touring car road racing series. In 2006, it was created based on the growth of amateur touring car racing in Canada and the pent-up demand for a professional product. CTCC is featured in Eastern Canada's main provinces, Ontario and Québec. Race events generally take place in the Greater Toronto Area, in the Greater Ottawa Area, in Mirabel, Montréal and Trois-Rivières. The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama was a one-make racing series based in Canada utilizing Porsche 911 GT3s. The Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama featured semi-professional drivers racing head to head in one of the largest single-make series in North America. The multi-class structure of the series taught drivers essential skills for eventual careers in the Porsche Supercup or the American Le Mans Series (Now currently as the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship). The Formula One Constructors' Association (FOCA) was an organization of the chassis builders (constructors) who design and build the cars that race in the FIA Formula One World Championship. The Canadian Grand Prix (french: Grand Prix du Canada) is an annual motor racing event held since 1961. It has been part of the Formula One World Championship since 1967. It was first staged at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, as a sports car event, before alternating between Mosport and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, after Formula One took over the event. After 1971, safety concerns led to the Grand Prix moving permanently to Mosport. In 1978, after similar safety concerns with Mosport, the Canadian Grand Prix moved to its current home at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Notre Dame Island in Montreal.
