Association Sportive et Culturelle de Boeny, better known as ASCB Boeny, is a Malagasy basketball club based in Mahajanga (Boeny). The team plays in the Malagasy N1A, the national highest level league. The club joined the N1A in 2017, and won the national championship the same year. Malagasy N1A
The Malagasy N1A is the top basketball league in Madagascar. Currently, twelve teams play in the competition to determine who is the national champion of Madagascar. The defending champions are COSPN. The winners of each N1A season play in the qualifiers of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Format The season begins with 12 teams in two conferences (West and East), the top four qualify for the Elite 8. The bottom team from each group is relegated to the N1B (the national second level). Mahajanga (French: Majunga) is a city and an administrative district on the northwest coast of Madagascar. The city of Mahajanga (Mahajanga I) is the capital of the Boeny Region. The district (identical to the city) had a population of 220,629 in 2013. Elly Randriamampionona (born 20 July 1997) is a Malagasy basketball player for COSPN on loan from GNBC and for . Standing at , he plays as shooting guard. Career Randriamampionona started playing at a young age with Sporting Club Antsiranana before joining ASCB Boeny in 2014. In 2017, he won the Malagasy N1A and the President's Cup. In 2018, Randriamampionona signed with GNBC. He won the 2019 championship with the team and qualified for the BAL Qualifying Tournaments. There, he helped his team qualify for the first-ever Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. In October 2022, he played on loan for COSPN in the 2023 BAL qualification. National team career Randriamampionona plays for the Madagascar senior national team.
